So since I'm still collecting amazing and wonderful stories for my Celebrating Families Project, I decided to kick things off with my number one family...MINE!!! hehehe!!!

I love being able to be part of a growing family! Kim and I met
years ago when she was planning her and Chris' wedding.
Over the years, engagement, wedding, pregnancy and then little Johnathan,
I have the absolute pleasure of capturing pivotal moments throughout their relationship.

She called me last year to say that she was pregnant.
I was so happy for them and honoured to capture the little bump that would be their son.
Recently she told me they were coming to the island and before she booked anything
else she wanted to book their first family portrait with me!

Wow!! It is very flattering to have a couple consider you their photographer,
especially when they live in another province!!

Thank you Chris and Kim...it is always a pleasure and
an absolute delight to meet little Johnathan.

Photography Workshop Success!!

Well the workshops are underway!

The first class of the "Basic Photography" workshop is complete
and today I put together a private lesson on "Lightroom".
I'd have to say that everything is going really well!

Anyone that knows me...knows that I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY!
I get kinda crazy about light...really excited about lenses...
and go nuts when everything comes together in a killer image.

I honestly enjoy sharing that knowledge and passion
with others who love this craft!

So if you can't make the next set of workshops...
hang on...
I am working on a date for another "Basic Photography" workshop,
tentatively I am planning it for three Sunday's in March!
as well....
After each set of workshops I will be offering a
field trip photo session.
Great, lots of fun and fantastic way to put all of that technical
information you've just learned to practice.

February 17th is the start of the
Photography Workshops!!

This is going to be so much fun!
With each workshop there will be a field trip option.
This is when we can all go out to shoot and learn more.
I will be available to answer questions, offer input and
take some imagesmyself...it will be GREAT!!
I have done location classes with students at
Western Academy of Photography and
North Island College and it is one of the best ways to learn!

Wow, I can't believe how fast time is flying!

Over the holidays I upgraded my computer and
it has evolved into a creature of its own!!
It has been very time consuming but rewarding in the end!

The holidays were wonderful...lots of family, fun, food
and wholly doodle...SNOW!!!

The family and new snowy friend!!

So now the New Year has everything moving along and I am very excited
to be finally launching a couple of projects that I have wanted to get going!!

My Pirate and Mermaid!!

Every year I photograph my kids in the studio prior to trick or treating!
I think pictures of children in costume is one of the cutest things!!
My kids love to dress up,
usually there are multiple costumes for Halloween,
so why not capture that moment!

I had the pleasure to work with this couple and their family in Tofino...one of my favorite places. I was surprised to learn that the entire group was from the East Coast, even the couple who are recent additions to Vancouver!
Wow, what a great family! Anyone I have ever met from the East Coast has the most wonderful sense of humor and these people did not let me down! Combined with a couple who was more than willing to have a little fun, take some risks (that cliff was a bit scary) and get dirty...makes for a fantastic day!

I am crossing fingers that I get to work with them all again on the East Coast next year for Susan's brother's wedding!!!
Nope, I haven't forgot!!!

For me two words describe this couple and their wedding...

Family and Happiness!!

Scott and Jo have one of the sweetest stories that
I've heard in awhile...(simply put)
High School classmates
...I asked "why didn't you nab her then?"
...Scott tells me "oh Treena, she was untouchable
...just look at her"
So years later when they are both at the High School reunion,
Scott worked up the courage and finally approached Jo
...and the result, two beautiful families joined together!

It was a pleasure to meet and photograph
this couple and their family!

Jesse and Gina obliged me and agreed to their portrait session in downtown Nanaimo! I have been really wanting to do something more "urban" and WOW, was it ever fun!!

I think they were both surprised and pleased to enjoy a glass of ale while we were doing the photographs!!

The beach is great...but sometimes is nice to have fun in another playground!!

Every time that we go back to Alberta, we miss it!!!

The prairies are my stomping grounds!
This is the skyline that I grew up with!

However, once we got close to the coast again and
I could smell the ocean,
I knew we were home!

It was a great trip and a promise to do it again soon!

We went to Banff, one of my favorite places, celebrated our 15th anniversary, my little girl learnt how to ride her bike, spent time with my two nieces, seen the new baby giraffe at the Calgary Zoo...only 4 days old, the kids played hard everyday and had black feet to show for it, my hubby won his division of disc golf and proudly brought home an egg plus some cash and a whole lot of stories,
and I got to meet this little man...Matthew and of course spend time with his mommy and daddy!

Fantastic!!

You might have noticed that the last few entries have all been made on the same day!
Its a bloggin blitz because we are off and away to Alberta!
My hubby is meeting the boys and going to throw a frisbee around the hoodoo's (aka big party). The kids and I are going to visit my nieces and one of my very dearest friends
who's new little man I am finally going meet!

Again...I get to photograph a family that I have had the pleasure of working with in the past.

This great bride was a trooper...hiking in a wedding dress,
fighting with burrs and climbing mountains!!

But wow...I think you will agree it was worth it!

We got some extraordinary images and I had so much fun with them!
Plus I think I pretty much have her convinced to do a

My mom always said that time passed more quickly as you get older!!

last week that I held this little girl in my arms and her feet barely
reached the other side on me!

Shinobu and Lorne

This lovely lady is so beautiful and this family makes me smile from ear to ear!!
What a great combination.

Last year it was Carrie and Robin's wedding and this year I was fortunate to be
asked to photograph Lorne and Shinobu this time!
You know when you meet really "quality" people and its is just such an
absolute pleasure...well that is this family!

My only regret...
Is that I wasn't with them in Japan for the ceremony there...wow!!
